Children of Fish
International contemporary jazz group that brings together the present, past and future through a laid-back and good-natured presence.
On October 25, 2024, the band released their debut album 'Sunrise Paper Punk' under the label Østersperle Plader Records. This album is an eclectic journey through the depths of Earth's oceans, drawing heavily from improvised, jazz, and electronic music.
Their music is often described as 'happy Nordic jazz' or 'Baltic jazz,' which combines the musical traditions of Baltic countries and all those with access to it.
Malina Midera (PL) – synths, piano
Petter Asbjørnsen (NO) – bass, electronics
Jēkabs Rēders (LV) – drums, percussion

midi 4
Midi 4 is a jazz quartet presenting original music that combines composed structures with open improvisation. Their sound draws from Nordic minimalism and the expressive tradition of Polish jazz, creating acoustic music.
The group released their debut album Cats, Dogs and Dwarfs in March 2024 on Alpaka Records (PL). The record showcases the band’s interest in balancing melody and texture, as well as spontaneous interaction between musicians. Midi 4 focuses on collective sound rather than individual solos, aiming for honest and direct musical expression.

Malina Midera & Jēkabs Rēders
'Bye Bye Sadness' is a new year's resolution and an exploration of the wonderful and unique sound world of two Hohner keyboards from late 1980's. All of the compositions are semi-improvised, recorded and mixed on a 4 track cassette recorder.
This release is a spontanous idea of two composers and instrumentalists - Malina Midera (PL) and Jēkabs Rēders (LV) who already work together with jazz and improvised music in a project called 'Children of Fish. This is a new take on their expression of creativity through the limitation of simple digital synthesizers and instant compositions recorded straight on a cassette as first takes. The music is unforced, playful, with a hint of Nostalgia and a laid back approach on the titles...
